A little recipe for you today! I recently discovered Juice Plus and my life is changed! We can talk more about that later (send me a message if you’d like) but I wanted to share a super EASY and quick smoothie recipe I use daily!
Coconut Water ( I use Zico)
Two cubes of frozen Spinach (blend spinach with a bit of water and then freeze it in an ice tray! super easy)
Half of a frozen Banana
Handful of frozen berries (I used blueberries)
1 scoop of Juice Plus Complete (or any plant based protein)
Any additions you want! I like to add a little almond butter but anything like flax or chia seeds is great too!
Combine ingredients above in order they are listed and blend to enjoy! I use a little magic bullet and it works great for me! No need to spend a fortune on a Vitamix to get a good smoothie taste.
Happy monday friends! Spring is officially here and I’ve started a new weekly organic basket pickup! Every saturday we pick up our basket from Abundant Harvest without a clue of what veggies/fruits we will be receiving. Whatever is in season and the most fresh, we get! The basket was filled with a ton of delicious produce and a lot of lemons! I decided not to let anything go to waste and make some fresh juice! Here are a few of my favorite combinations:
Carrot + Apple + Lemon (Pictured above)
Spinach + Apple + Carrot + Lemon
Pineapple + Cucumber
Blood Orange+Tangerine +Grapefruit
Juice is something I love and is way overpriced here in LA! I can always tell when I need a fresh veggie juice. Yesterday I was lethargic and guessed I was low on iron, I’m anemic, so I juiced some spinach I had in the fridge. Just enough for a shot because it was nasty, but the health benefit was immediate. I felt my body telling me that was just what I needed and I had more energy and clarity for the rest of the day! I would rather heal my body naturally than pop a pill any day! We decided to spend our Valentines Day in this year and just enjoy each other! I also had to leave the next morning at 6 am so a late night out wasn’t an option! I picked up all of our favorite toppings and we topped our waffles how we liked! Perfect date night or party idea!

Yep… That’s right. Sexy little salad to help with the swim suit season that is fast approaching:) I can’t get enough of this salad lately and today I want to share it with you! I work all day so I pack a different variation of this for my lunches:) Get ready because it’s super easy!
Isn’t that just the best picture you have seen? Real high quality:) It’s called rushing to work and snapping a pick with my iphone but it goes to show that this salad packs well! I even have a delicious salad dressing recipe for you too!
Sexy Summer Salad
Handful of Organic Spring Green Mix
Cucumber, sliced & peeled
4 Strawberries, sliced
1 medium Carrot (not the baby carrots, the real good stuff) thinly sliced with my veggie slicer
Cabbage, thinly sliced
1/2 Avocado, cubed
1/4 Apple, cubed
Handful of raw Pumpkin Seeds
Dash of Himalayan salt, garlic/onion powder (gives it a little flavor!)
Throw it in a bowl and toss it so all the good stuff doesn’t sink to the bottom!
3 parts salad oil of choice
1 part white balsamic vinegar
Finely grated fresh ginger root (to taste)
(I sometimes place a clove crushed garlic in a small tea ball and let it sit in the dressing for a day or two.)
Throw it all together and there ya have it! Adjust any ingredients to your taste buds or use what you have in the fridge:) It’s easy, super healthy, and tasty! For those of us who are stuck eating salads for the rest of our lives switch it up and make it exciting! A salad doesn’t have to only be lettuce, tomatoes, and ranch! yuck! I could eat this salad everyday and in fact I have for the last week:) Call me crazy but I love a good salad:)
Happy Sunday everyone! It was a busy weekend full of wedding events and good friends! Averie was a stunning bride (seriously the most beautiful I’ve ever seen) and it turned out to be a beautiful day. Life is a changin for so many of us! We all grew up together dancing at Center Stage (basically like sisters) and we have stayed close ever since! SO grateful for a wonderful group of ladies!
Unfortunately my plane was delayed due to the rain and I didnt make it in time for the ceremony, but the sun decided to shine and I made it just in time to see her once she came out. I’m so glad I made it because what a special day it was! Love you ave!
And now for my new obsession…
Papaya Green Smoothie
- 1/2-1 cup unsweetened Almond Milk
- 1 cup Spinach (or any green of your choice)
- 5 Chunks frozen Papaya
- 1 Frozen Banana sliced
- 1 tbl Coconut Oil
Pour almond milk in blender followed by spinach. Add 3 chunks papaya and blend till smooth. Now add the remaining papaya and blend till smooth (if i put all the frozen ingredients in at the same time it just gets chunky and wont blend.) Repeat with the frozen banana. Add coconut oil when motor is at full speed in order to make sure it gets creamy instead of ending in a large chunk in your smoothie. Pour into a glass and enjoy:)
it’s great to see you but i wish you were friday, or better yet…saturday night! i can only hope the next two days go quickly:) i am loving the evidence of fall around provo and whipped out some sweaters already! (probably a little pre mature considering i was a little warm wearing them, but i can’t help but throw them on!
notice how i am the only one in a sweater! ha! i love sweater weather so please mother nature, send it my way! and something i love almost as much a sweater weather is pumpkin! this time of year welcomes all things pumpkin and i have a tasty recipe for you today! i originally found this recipe at cleaneatingmag.com and adapted it a bit! so here is my version.
- 1 1/2 cups whole-wheat flour
- 1/4 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tbsp cinnamon
- Pinch of sea salt
- 3 ripe bananas, mashed with a fork
- 2 egg whites
- 1/4 cup pumpkin ( not pumpkin pie filling!)
- 1/2 cup raw honey
- 1/4 cup coconut oil
- Olive oil cooking spray, optional
- Preheat oven to 350°F. In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
- In a large bowl, with a hand mixer, beat bananas until smooth. Add egg whites and beat until combined. Gradually mix in pumpkin, honey and coconut oil.
- Mix dry ingredients into banana mixture.
- Mist a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan with cooking spray. Pour batter into pan and bake for 45 minutes, or until browned on top.
super moist and easy to eat!

in other news, i have a recipe to share! those are rare on this blog so cherish it. i mentioned this before, but i received some spirulina from the folks at NUTREX HAWAII to review so i decided to try it in my post workout smoothie. best idea ever. i was a little nervous to try my smoothie because it turned out a green/greyish color (hence the title of this post) but one of the best ive made yet! don’t judge the color:)
SUMMER SPIRULINA SMOOTHIE
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or milk of your choice)
- 1 small banana
- large handfull of spinach (about 1-2 cups)
- handful of frozen strawberries
- 1 1/2 scoop sunwarrior vanilla protein powder (or protein of your choice)
- 1 tsp powdered spirulina
pour liquid into blender first then add protein powder, spirulina, and spinach. then add banana and strawberries. blend and enjoy!
yum! off to work and hopefully and evening filled with friday night lights:)

happy hump day! it’s technically not my hump day since my work week isn’t over till saturday, but i can still wish you all a marvelous hump day! i’m still on my crusade to change my body and help eliminate the amount of space that my negative self image thoughts take up, and it’s going pretty well. i discovered that my body needs a lot more protein than i was giving it so the last few days i decided to try harder to find other sources of good protein. when i became a vegetarian, i worried about getting enough protein without eating meat, but there are so many other sources out there thanks to what i learned in Eat To Live.
here are a few of my go-to protein meals…
Vega Protein Pancakes
- 1 c GF oats
- 1/2 c nonfat plain greek yogurt
- 4 egg whites
- 2 tbls of vanilla protein powder or 1 scoop ( i used Vega)
- 1/2 tsp of cinnamon
- Combine ingredients in blender and blend till smooth
- scoop onto skillet, cook, and enjoy!
here is another recipe that i tried to the other day and they have been the perfect solution for a protein snack!
Jamie Eason’s Pumpkin Protein Bars (click here for jamie’s video)
- Preheat the oven to 350.
- Spray a 9 X 13 Pyrex dish with non-stick spray.
- Combine first 11 ingredients and mix well.
- Add the final 3 ingredients (4, if adding walnuts), and mix until incorporated. Spread batter into the Pyrex dish and bake for 30 min.
- Makes 24 squares.
i loved these. i took them to utah for my weekend trip and they were the perfect go to snack:) she has a bunch of recipes i still need to try. give these a quick look!

those look amazing and i think you need to give them a try! i try to eat at least 6 small meals a day filled with veggies, protein, fruits, ans grains. i love veggie omelet’s, salads with a little fish, veggie burgers, homemade veggie pizza’s, green smoothies, and homemade bars and breads! but i’m always looking for new options so if any of you have go to protein options that you enjoy please let me know:) happy hump day!
Happy Wednesday everyone and guess what?! Show cancelled tonight so that means a night off! Now the question is, what to do tonight?? hopefully I can come up with something fun!
I wanted to update you all on my latest goals! I’ve been feeling a little bit off lately as well as feeling low about my body so I decided to do something about it! I’m making some good changes rather than feeling sorry for myself.
I asked some of my fellow FitFluentual Ambassadors about some ideas to switch up my fitness routine and I got some great tips!
So first I took a good look at what I was eating and when I was eating it. I made a new goal to eat CLEAN ( which I already do, but needed a wake up call) and make sure to eat small meals every 3 hours or so. I was letting myself slip a little with Easter goodies and what not so it was a good re-evaluation. Im eating an unlimited amount of veggies which I love, keeping the fruits to a minimum and of course protein! I also need carbs so I’m making sure to get enough of those but also making sure they are quality!
Now for fitness!! I’m always excited to change it up, but nervous as well because I get comfortable in what I’m used to. I have never took to running very well but I thought I should explore it. I also was told I needed to try weights and see how I felt about that. With that said, I decided to give Jamie Easons LiveFit trainer as well as Tabata/Interval style of running a try and see how my body responds! Lets be honest, I hate running….So I’m going to build up slow and see if this is what my body needs. If not, then off for another search of what works for me! I will still be incorporating my bodyrock, ZWOW’S, and HIIT workouts, on the days I dont run or Weight Train so I’ll keep you posted on the progress!

2-10 mins: 8.0 mph X1 min followed by 6.0 X1 min, 1.0% incline, complete 4 intervals
10-12 mins: 6.0 mph X1 min followed by 4.5 mph, 4.0% incline
I plan to run a little longer but Intervals are a great way to burn calories and help me get some great cardio! Wish me luck cuz running and I aren’t good friends yet… So I’m headed to the gym! Catch ya later!
