Mother of 30

Being in utah husband-less I can’t be grateful enough for my Center Stage company kids! They have become my family and I spend everyday with them.  Not only do I spend everyday with them, but I get to spend the time helping them grow as artists and little human beings! How does the saying go? They have taught me more than I have taught them? Something like that I think.  But it’s so true! I am crazy insecure (aren’t we all?) about my work and I feel like I have changed and grown so much as a choreographer.  Finding my voice as in a world with so much talent is difficult but I am slowly getting there! The summer is going to fly by and although I am grateful to get to MN faster, I am also really dreading leaving my kids behind.  I have two companies, the Teens and the Seniors, amounting to about 30 kids and I seriously cant stand leaving them behind! Gosh! They are really quite awesome:)  If I am being totally honest, I haven’t be able to sleep very well lately due to stress about all we need to get done before our big showcase in June and dealing with the stress of Carson being 1300 miles away, I sometimes forget to enjoy these moments because soon they will be gone:( Lots to do and I am going to enjoy every second of it!

who doesn’t love a good selfie in a crowded dressing room?!

p.s. (totally off topic) I currently am craving these adorable high waisted shorts for the pool!  I would die to have this comfy sweater paired with boyfriend jeans. And these flats? Adorable!

NYC Adventure

Welp if any of you follow me on insta you would know that I had a fabulous adventure in NYC.  All thanks to my fabulous older brother Dallin (technically bro-in-law) who let me take over his apartment for a few days! I went out for the Radio City Christmas Spectacular Dance Ensamble audition, which was hilarious and fun all at the same time, and took advantage of the city! I didn’t do anything too touristy but I did make sure to stand in the very spot I said “yes” to Carson over two years ago. As I stood there all I could think about was how life has changed since then and how quickly time has passed.  Its been over two years….woah!

Dallin lives in Brooklyn so I decided to act like a local and explore Williamsburg a bit.  I wandered into the flea market by the river and darling streets filled with “hipster” boutiques and organic restaurants.  My kinda area:)  I think I am a little high maintenance because I love that! Juice bars, organic food, and the vegan/gluten free craze:)   Call me crazy but we all have our own vices. I did make it a point to visit my favorite Vegan, Gluten Free, and Organic bakery for a cookie sandwich! I inhaled it in under 5 min.  I took the subway into the city to find it but man was it worth it.  They sell a cook book but there is no way I would be able to get it to taste as good as they do! I know babycakes is old news but it’s one of my favorites:)

The city reminded me of how much I love city life.  I love walking to and from everything and love the amount of people! sounds crazy but I am no farm girl:)  Carson isnt as in love with NYC as I am so maybe some day I will convert him.  We can live in a cute NYC apt with cute NYC things and a kitchen filled with NYC goodies.  Hopefully I can find some city love in Minneapolis and discover my new favorite spots:) Until then, I’ll settle for my quick trip to NYC and dream of more baby cakes:)

2 years

I can’t believe it has been two years since I married my best friend. We did the math the other day and sadly realized we have only really spent a year of it living in the same state. With that being said, I feel like I have the best man ever. He has been 100 percent supportive of all my endevers these past two years and I am so thankful for that. I could list a thousand reasons why I love my husband but that will get sappy and probably a little annoying. so here’s just one. I love you Carson because you are my whole life, my everything.

Two years down and eternity to go:) Happy Anniversary Carson James!

rewarding.

I am exhausted everyone.  It was such an incredible weekend and I couldn’t have asked for more! NUVO dance convention came to utah this weekend and we went as a studio to take class as well as compete. What I love about these conventions when they come to town is that the kids are exposed to huge names in the dance world! Top choreographers in our industry, some Emmy nominees, others working with famous recording artists, and well respected teachers spending a whole weekend teaching class and judging competition! I took class all weekend and was reminded how much I love dance as well as beeming with pride as my company kids represented well!  I’m sure some of you have heard of Travis Wall or Stacey Tookey right? well we spent a whole weekend being inspired and learning from those people! Needless to say it went really well! I wish I could’ve gotten more pics but I was so stressed about getting my kids on stage I didn’t quite get the camera out enough! These are just a few of my beautiful ladies! Congrats to all my beautiful dancers and here’s to making our next performance even better!

7 Day ab challenge

Yep I said it.  Ab challenge.  We all have that trouble area that we can’t fix and I have been doing my best to make my abs in the kitchen but I want that 6 pack! I gathered all the exercises from pinterest and made it my own:) So here it is so you can do it with me!

7 Day Ab Challenge

(Do each move for one minute each)

  • Leg Lifts (place your palms under your lower spine and lay back onto your elbows so your shoulders are off the ground.  Lift legs slowly and keep abs contracted)

  • Scissor Kicks (keeping body in same positon lift legs off floor and scissor kick them crossing legs)

  • Swim Kicks (keeping body in same position switch legs back in forth like swimming:)

  • Reverse leg lifts (grab a hold of a table or chair behind you and lay flat on the ground.  Lift legs up and past head to touch chair/table and back to the floor

  • Plank. (my favorite! hold core to spine and keep neck and spine long)

  • 25 pushups

Repeat as many times as your abs can stand it!

I’m off to get er done!

the tortilla bar

I have found my new favorite place to eat. I highly suggest that all of you utahn’s check it out. Tortilla Bar in orem (just past university mall on state street) is brand new and they are doing something right! I have only tried the avocado beet tacos but I will be back to try out the rest of the menu soon! It is all organic and simply THE BEST tacos I’ve ever tasted. The restaurant itself is small so I always order to go. When you visit, be sure to go at a time when it won’t be too crowded. Then you can enjoy the great environment without feeling squished. This will defiantly be a spot I take carson the next time he is in town.  Taco’s anyone?

currently me

seeing… progress.  my studio kids are looking AH-MAZ-ING and I feel like a proud mother hen being involved in their growth as artists. I’m seeing spring! I love the sunshine and I am hoping mother nature doesn’t keep tricking us with random cold days!  I’m seeing change, good and bad, and maybe a little craziness but I’m ready for it:)

hearing… this beautiful tune is playin in my car these days and ooooh is it fine! do any of you watch Nashville? I am currently addicted and technically that isn’t hearing but that’s where my tune came from!

doing… working.  sometimes I think too much but then again I am more than ok with being busy.  wish I was laying on a beach or visiting Bali but who doesn’t? I’m alright with being a busy bee and currently doing more work to make this blog a little better! you will see soon enough:)

believing… LDS general conference was last weekend and I was filled with beautiful council.  Currently i’m focusing on all that goodness:)

craving… clothes. tortilla bar. sweet potatoe fries.  too many things to list.  This outfit right here from fashion blogger Cara Loren  is giving it to me and calling my name.  too bad I have no reason at all to order new clothes but a girl needs a few online purchases every once and awhile right? And as for the Tortilla Bar.  If you are in Utah this is a must! All organic and the most delicious gourmet tacos I have ever tasted.  And get this… one of my uber talented Sr Co members family owns it! So there are two great reasons to go:) I suggest the Avocado and Beet tacos!

missing… you all know the answer to this but I am missing my dear Carson and baby Remmie.  They are doing great in Minnesota, surviving the cold, and 3M is treating Carson well!  Missing date night and red box runs but we are professionals at this and thank goodness for skype and snap chat.

watching… hulu! I have already professed my love for hulu but I am watching Nashville, Smash, The following, How I Met Your Mother, and New girl! They keep me company on lonely nights and they are just plan ole good.  Maybe it’s the performer in me but I wanna be apart of smash or Nashville.  It seems like a real dream job to be on broadway or a huge country star! And I think Hayden Panitierre (spelling?…although kinda a diva in the show) is darling and her costumes are great

reading… about to start the Divergent series.  Anyone read it? I’m hoping it’s a good read!

thinking… that it’s probably time to go to bed but I have too much on my mind to go to sleep.  I have been contemplating the decisions I need to make in order to make my big aspirations a reality.  so I am going to start taking those chances the best I know how.  who knows, maybe something exciting will come my way:) I’m putting it out there and 3 cheers to going for it.  Hopefully I am good with failure because it could all go down the drain but here goes:)

how’s that for a post? now I wanna hear whats currently “you”

xoxo

My new favorite green smoothie

Happy Sunday everyone! It was a busy weekend full of wedding events and good friends! Averie was a stunning bride (seriously the most beautiful I’ve ever seen) and it turned out to be a beautiful day.  Life is a changin for so many of us! We all grew up together dancing at Center Stage (basically like sisters) and we have stayed close ever since! SO grateful for a wonderful group of ladies!

Unfortunately my plane was delayed due to the rain and I didnt make it in time for the ceremony, but the sun decided to shine and I made it just in time to see her once she came out.  I’m so glad I made it because what a special day it was! Love you ave!

And now for my new obsession…

Papaya Green Smoothie

Ingredients:

  1. 1/2-1 cup unsweetened Almond Milk
  2. 1 cup Spinach (or any green of your choice)
  3. 5 Chunks frozen Papaya
  4. 1 Frozen Banana sliced
  5. 1 tbl Coconut Oil

Directions:

Pour almond milk in blender followed by spinach.  Add 3 chunks papaya and blend till smooth.  Now add the remaining papaya and blend till smooth (if i put all the frozen ingredients in at the same time it just gets chunky and wont blend.) Repeat with the frozen banana.  Add coconut oil when motor is at full speed in order to make sure it gets creamy instead of ending in a large chunk in your smoothie.  Pour into a glass and enjoy:)

Happy Sunday!

xoxo
